A CENTURY-OLD childcare charity in Blackburn is looking to recruit volunteers to work with children in need.
Blackburn Childcare Trust, which is based in Whalley Road, Wilpshire, has more than 100 staff working in all areas of childcare, from time spent with young offenders and the children of foster carers to helping with support groups for young carers.
The first dozen volunteers will spend a minimum of two hours a week helping with group work for young carers, who have responsibilities for members of their family with physical or mental problems, and with mentoring individual youngsters.
The helpers will undergo an induction of four three-hour sessions with further ongoing training and support.
They will have to provide references and undergo criminal record checks.
Anyone who wants to find out more can drop in at the Homestead Centre in Whalley Road on May 1 from 5pm to 8pm or call Helen Rogers on 01254 244700.
