THE Queen's Lancashire Regiment is starting a new battle - for recruits.
A roadshow will be set up in King William Square, Blackburn, from Tuesday until the end of the week to attract youngsters into a career in the army.
And an infantry platoon of 25 soldiers are to visit youth clubs, recreation centres and gyms during this period.
Captain John Harker said: "Now is an excellent time to be a member of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
"After completing a busy and extremely successful training year in 2002, our battalion is ready for operations and is currently on 10 days notice to move for deployment anywhere in the world.
"The remainder of the year brings a short spell in the Falklands, a royal visit in the summer and jungle training in Belize.
"With a two-year posting in Cyprus starting 2004 and then off to Germany in 2006, it just doesn't get any better.
"The Lancashire lads are really excited about what the future holds, if you are up to it why not come and join us?"
