CLARETS striker Gareth Taylor is urging football's governing body to use common sense in the current dispute with Azerbaijan and not risk wrecking his Euro 2004 dream.

Taylor is an established member of Mark Hughes's Wales squad but they risk losing six hard-earned points and plus-six goal difference if FIFA's suspension of the Azerbaijan becomes permanent.

The fear is that will mean their results will be scrapped and the five team group will become four.

"That does not seem fair," complained Taylor. "Serbia/Montenegro have dropped two points against them at home while we have beaten them twice.

"They should be allowed to finish this campaign and then be barred from the draw for the 2006 World Cup."

The problems centre on a protracted dispute between the Azerbaijan FA and the leading clubs in the country but Taylor hopes it will be sorted out so that the advantage that has been so hard earned, is not lost.

Meanwhile Burnley's other current international, Dimitri Papadopoulos has received a call-up to the Greece Under 21 side for a friendly game with Slovakia later this month.

The game takes place in Slovakia on Wednesday April 30.

It means the striker will travel out after the final home game of the season with Sheffield Wednesday, but will be available for the final match with Wimbledon on Sunday May 4.

Papadopoulos will hope to continue the form he showed in Belfast a few weeks ago when he bagged a hat-trick against Northern Ireland.
