CLARETS boss Stan Ternent has admitted that he will be making "radical" changes to his squad ahead of next season as he continues to pursue his Premiership dream.
"The squad needed changing last summer but I wasn't able to do it," he explained. "But there will be changes this summer.
"The lads have done well this season but there needs to be a big turnaround this close season. I have only got 12 players left in contract so I will be building a new team but it is a massive job, especially without any money.
"The players I will be bringing in will all be good players, younger players, and there will be a radical restructuring of the club.
"There will be a lot of players unemployed this summer and not because they are not good enough, there is just not enough money to pay them.
"There is no longer a transfer market at our level and below us while even in the Premiership there will be just one or two big moves this summer and that will be it.
"I have got my budget, I know what I can afford and it could be better."
But he is used to having no money having not bought a single player this season.
The manager added that his plans for last summer had to be shelved following the collapse of ITV Digitial, and he said: "Six players went out and I had four lined up with another two. If I had brought them in we would have been very competitive."
Ternent is aware that this season's level of performance in the league has been a drop on the last two campaigns and he said: "The level of expectation at this club goes with the territory.
"But if you don't have ambition to achieve things it is not a good idea to be at a club. Most of our supporters are pretty realistic and I know what they are like because I have lived most of my life here."
But fans who are still dreaming of a place in the top flight share that vision with the man at the helm as he repeated: "I still dream of being a Premiership manager and the club I want to manage is Burnley.
"The future is good. We have got fantastic support and if we are competitive, the place is full.
"But I will have to build another side, certainly if we are going to get into the Premiership and that is still my ambition."
