POLICE have ended their investigation into how a woman suffered 40 per cent burns after she admitted it was self-harm.
The 21 year-old woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was found slumped in the garden of a home in Assheton Road, Billinge, Blackburn, on March 27. A petrol can was nearby.
She was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary, but later transferred to a specialist burns unit in Birmingham.
The woman has undergone several operations for skin grafts and has only just, now she is less sedated, begun to speak coherently again.
Police interviewed her at her bedside and she admitted she had set herself on fire deliberately. She is still described as in a poorly but stable condition.
