REGARDING the person who is having to pay £17 out of his state pension for home help services (LET, April 4), I am on the state pension, plus a company pension and Income Support and a disability payment and do not pay one penny for this service, or Council Tax.
He must have some other income or savings of £11,750 or more.
If this man contacts Age Concern they will arrange for someone to visit him and tell him if he is entitled to Income Support and, if so, like me and many others, he will pay nothing at all.
I think your reports and Eric Leaver's comments (LET, April 9) have created a false impression that £17 is taken out of the state pension only.
H NEVILLE (Mr), Arran Avenue, Blackburn.
