GREAT Harwood Town extended their unbeaten run to seven matches with a comfortable home win over Blackpool Mechanics.

John Hughes' side took advantage of the visitors' experience but comparatively slow back line as they bid to end their season on a winning note.

Teenager Matty Derbyshire continued to cause problems up front and forced Mechanics to put the ball over their own line in a goal-mouth scramble on 14 minutes.

Blackpool equalised two minutes after the break when Shiels headed home from a free kick.

But, with 10 minutes to go, Chris Heslop and Paul Mashiter linked up to restore Town's lead.

Heslop released Mashiter but, instead of going for goal, Mashiter unselfishly played a square ball back to his team-mate and Heslop rolled the ball over the line.

Mashiter and Derbyshire then combined as Derbyshire outpaced his marker to run onto a ball over the top of the defence and beat the goalkeeper to earn Great Harwood's sixth win in seven games.

Hughes was pleased with the performance of his young side, particularly Derbyshire and leading goalscorer John Eastham, who switched to defence following a number of absences in their rearguard.
