THERE is an over-whelming feeling that spring is here as you walk around the new show at Lancaster City Museum.
For two local women have joined forces in a new exhibition now showing.
'Surroundings' is an exhibition of recent work by Joan Eastham that brings a breath of fresh air into the room.
Spring flowers start the viewer on a journey encapsulating nature's produce through the four seasons of the year.
And her work is combined with that in Sue Mitchell's display 'Lancaster and Beyond', which shows the variety of styles that she commands to interpret each of her chosen subjects.
Bold, colourful images of architectural features capture the elegance of Lancaster, while in contrast she uses cool, softer tones to portray the beauty of the surrounding district including Hornby, Silverdale and Beetham.
And watery landscapes across Morecambe Bay contrast with the richness of scenes from a Venetian carnival.
Sue also shows her drawing skills with three large life drawings and her many sketchbooks which give an insight into how she develops her work to the final piece.
Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Admission free.
