FOUR points out of six over a dramatic Easter weekend have put Morecambe within reach of a slice of history.
Victory over Nigel Clough's Burton Albion in the final league match of the season at Christie Park on Saturday will guarantee the Shrimps their highest-ever league finish.
Morecambe stand in second place in the Nationwide Conference at the moment, one place higher than their '99/2000 league placing.
Equalling that may have been a reasonable target at the start of the season now drawing to its nerve-tingling climax - but it is small beer now to manager Jim Harvey and his squad.
A place in the Football League is the only piece of history which interests Morecambe - the Conference's in-form team of the moment.
A 3-1 home win over Scarborough on Saturday - secured despite the dismissal of recent on-loan signing Lee Collins - was followed by a deserved Easter Monday draw away at promotion rivals Doncaster Rovers.
That means Morecambe have picked up four wins and one draw from the last six games - a record bettered only by runaway league champions Yeovil.
Who Morecambe will meet in the play-offs is still anybody's guess, with three points covering all four teams in the frame. But Shrimps are the only ones with a home game to finish the season.
