ANIMAL campaigner Pamela Pearson is to be given a £500 boost this week.
Pamela, from Elm Street, Bury is the volunteer Lancashire organiser of the PUPS - Prevent Unwanted Pets - charity.
And this week she will be presented with £500 from the Co-op Charitable Fund to help pay for her work.
PUPS encourages pet lovers to have their animals neutered - and will help pay the vets' bills when the owners cannot afford it themselves. Pamela always uses Armac Veterinary Clinic at The Rock, Bury which gives her discounts.
But with the cost of neutering running to £80 for bigger dogs, she is always desperately short of funds.
She said: "It's just so important that people get their pets neutered so if they can't afford it, we try to help out.
"But we rely on donations so we are really grateful for every penny we receive."
