HLEIGH RMI Ladies again played Castle Park Rangers of Frodsham, a match which they won 4-2, two weeks ago. With an under-strength squad RMI made the journey full of excitement as promotion prospects were still possible. It was Rangers who started the better, and played some great football to take the lead with an outstanding effort from the edge of the box.
RMI quickly got back into the game and had a couple of great moves being led from the back by Emma Allison, and Yvonne Taylor. Just as it seemed nothing was going RMI's way, Dennard slotted a perfect ball through, which Lou Sumner reacted to quickest, to beat the defenders and keeper, and crash the ball home, 1-1.
Late in the second period RMI were in control as Dennard dispossessed Rangers' left back and was then brought down in the area. Alldred's finely struck penalty was miraculously saved, only for Dennard to convert the rebound to make it 2-1. In a sad twist of fate, RMI conceded a very late goal from a wicked deflection to leave the result 2-2.
