MR J Allan (Letters, April 14) is quite right regarding pensioners and council tax and at least Mr I W McKendrick, who complained in the same issue about higher levels of the tax year year, has a wage coming in.
We are two pensioners who, because we have a small private pension, don't get any hand-outs as we are just above the border line.
Why should we have to pay the same as a household which may have two or three wages coming in? Even one wage is probably more than our pensions put together.
We now have to pay nearly £100 a month -- far more than our mortgage ever was -- and it's a lot out of a pension.
Name and address received.
