A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital after she had been hit in the stomach by an exploding canister from a rubbish fire.
The girl was with a group of youths playing near a rubbish fire in the garden of a derelict house at Hulme Road, Leigh, at 8pm on Monday.
A fire crew from Eccles arrived to find the girl being comforted by residents. An ambulance crew took her to Wigan Infirmary where she was treated for slight burns and bruising to her stomach.
A fire brigade spokesman said: "We want to warn youngster about the dangers of playing near rubbish fires as it is never certain what they contain."
