ATHERTON Town overcame their near neighbours and cup holders Atherton LR by 2 goals to 1 to move into the semi-final of the Bolton Hospital Cup.
Following an entertaining but scoreless first half Atherton LR took the lead though Shilleto in the 55th minute. McLoughlin however equalised on 65 minutes and just as extra time was looming popped in an 86th minute winner to carry Atherton Town though.
The remaining quarter final ties are: Saturday - Old Boltonians v Blackrod Town (3pm). Wednesday - Stoneclough v Tempest United (6.30 pm). Thursday - Atherton Collieries v Turton (7.30).
To date the competition raised over £600 from their first round ties for their designated charity Bolton Hospice.
