LINKS between East Lancashire and America are to be celebrated with a spectacular battle re-enactment at Hoghton Tower.
An American Civil War-style battle will be staged at the tower on May 25 and 26 by the American Civil War Society.
The setting was chosen to celebrate historical links between the US and East Lancashire, which include involvement by the de Hoghton family in the civil war, from 1861-5.
The battle will be complemented by a Wild West show, a New Orleans jazz band, a display of classic American cars and a display of American military history from World Wars One and Two.
American Civil War Society chairman Nick Richards said: "The north west of England was heavily involved in the American Civil War. Lancashire cotton workers starved as a result of the blockade of the southern ports and our heavy industries provided all manner of manufactured goods to all sides.
"Our society recreates an authentic portrayal of life in 1860s America as well as creating a wonderful spectacle."
