WELL, after all the nonsense of "Will they, won't they raise the union flag over the Padiham/Burnley town halls,' common sense prevailed, with the flags erected in their rightful place (LET, April 17).
More's the pity they aren't permanently displayed at these locations as well as at every public hall, place of worship, sports ground, large employment area, etc., throughout the kingdom.
Personally, I feel it isn't an act of appeasement by the councils concerned, but, rather, an act to drum up political support, with the local elections upon us.
Having been born in South Wales, I am a typical 'proud Welshman,' but, as proud as I am of this fact, it pales into significance when 'British' is mentioned.
Now, if everybody, who has integrated into British society were as likeminded about this as myself, perhaps multi-culturism might stand in the future.
G A REYNOLDS (Mr), Mitton Road, Whalley.
