I WOULD like to thank the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for the wonderful coverage of the fight to keep our care homes open.
You gave me and my wife, Phoebe, full coverage of our 55th wedding anniversary and at Christmas and New Year and then Phoebe's funeral (LET, April 23 and 25), which was handled with so much tenderness and care it moves me to tears each time I see the pictures and the words. I shall be ever grateful to you all.
I also want to thank you for giving your full support to our Hyndburn Action Committee. And, yes, we will remain active on all fronts, until victory for common sense and justice has been won for a body of people who saved this country when our nation faced defeat in June, 1940.
It was only the courage of these people in the care homes which the nation wants to close today that Britain was saved. This is no way for them to be treated at the end of their lives.
NORMAN HICKEY, Lyndon Court, Great Harwood.
