SOCCER legend Duncan McKenzie has confirmed he'll appear at Simon Garner's Testimonial - but not as a player!
McKenzie, 52, was a central figure and teammate of Garner's when Rovers gained promotion from the old Division Three under Howard Kendall in 1980.
The former Everton, Chelsea and Anderlecht player is to be the star speaker at a Sportsmans Dinner which follows the Testimonial game on Sunday May 18 between Rovers' Champion-winning squad of 1995 and the Worthington Cup Winning squad of 2002.
McKenzie, one of the most in-demand speakers on the circuit, said: "Simon was a great lad and I've got some great stories about him and the club - but I'm not prepared to share them before his big night!
"I'm really looking forward to returning to Ewood to help celebrate one of the great careers in football."
Tickets for the Sportsmans Dinner have just been put on sale at £35, which will include a Northcote Offsite three-course dinner at Ewood plus entertainment from McKenzie and a top comedian.
They can be purchased through the Rovers corporate sales team on 01254 690909. Tickets for the testimonial itself can be purchased by calling 01254 671666.
