A DRIVER had to be cut free from a car with serious injuries on Tuesday night.

The man, who has not been named, was travelling in a Vauxhall Carlton on the M55 at around 7.45pm, when it is believed he drove from the third lane to the first.

The car hit a Scania HGV, and became trapped underneath the back of the lorry.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue crews took around an hour to cut the driver free, and he was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with fractures to both legs, both arms, pelvis, skull and internal injuries.
