AN ALCOHOLIC took an overdose of pills while being evicted from her home, an inquest heard.
Pauline Storey, of Cross Street West, Colne, was found at home by her husband Dennis, on January 31, after he left her drinking from a two-litre bottle of cider in the morning.
Mr Storey, who had been married for 10 years, returned home later the same day to find his wife collapsed on the floor of the lounge with empty packets of co-proxamol pain killers nearby. He called an ambulance but she later died.
Acting East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor recorded a verdict of accidental death and said: "I am not satisfied beyond all reasonable doubt that she intended to take her own life."
