A BALLOON released from Whalley has ended up in the Baltic Sea.
Students from Oakhill College sent off 122 tagged balloons when the Parents Association organised an Easter fundraiser.
And one of the balloons has been retrieved by Denmark sailor Joerg Meier. He said: "First I was thinking it was fishing buoy but I picked it up and what a surprise -- a balloon contest!"
Not only did Joerg send back photographs of the balloon in the middle of the Baltic, he gave its precise position between Denmark and Germany and enclosed a map.
The college awaits the closure of the competition in a couple of weeks to find out if Joerg has found the winner. More than £200 was raised from the event for school funds.
