CLITHEROE clinched runners-up spot in the North West Counties League Division One by crushing Nantwich Town in their last league game of the campaign.
First half goals from Lee Cryer, who took his tally to 26 for the season, Chris Whittingham and Andy Cowking gave the Blues the perfect platform and they were in no mood to let their lead slip.
Nantwich, who are one of the league's in-form teams, had no answer to the Clitheroe team still seething after losing to Mossley last Saturday.
Gary Jackson added a fourth after the break, taking his tally to 26, as Clitheroe ran out worthy winners. They now go to Gigg Lane, home of Bury FC, next Wednesday (7.30pm) to play Mossley in the League Cup final.
It is 17 years since they last appeared in the final of this competition and manager Lee Sculpher is desperate to reverse last Saturday's league result and is confident his team will perform on the night.
"It is a big game for the club, but we are ready" said Sculpher. "The lads know what to expect from Mossley after last week. We will be prepared and ready for battle. Let's hope we can finish the season with some silverware."
