WAY back in the 1920s, there was a second-hand clothes stall on Blackburn market -- mostly gents clothing, I think.
As a customer tried on a jacket or overcoat, the lady stall holder would grab a fistful at the back, show him the front in the mirror and say "fits you lovely, sir." Then she would do the same with the front of the garment .
I was only a little girl then, but remember it quite well. I wonder if any of your readers do?
