I AM disgusted at Burnley Council's stance on the hiring of a new director (LET, April 17). Council leader Stuart Caddy should realise that it is not rocket science to identify the weak areas in the council and the borough as a whole.
It is interesting that Councillor Caddy identified the Comprehensive Performance Review, which starts on September 29.
The council are worried about what mark they are going to get and rightly so.
However, increasing efficiency and improving services should be a full-time commitment.
Finally, why do we require such a director? Is this not why we elected the councillors in the first place?
A good 'mark' from the review is not as important to the people of Burnley. It is important to the council, who can then kid us that they are doing a good job.
