FIVE men with connections to a Chinese Triad gang have been jailed for their part in the kidnap and torture of an illegal immigrant working in Tyldesley.
The men, who were jailed for between three and 13 years at Manchester Crown Court, had connections with a gang called the Snakeheads which specialised in smuggling illegal immigrants into Britain and then using violence to recover "unpaid fees".
One of their clients was Chen Cun Laing, aged 27, who was working at a Chinese restaurant in Tyldesley where he was attacked, beaten and bundled into a car.
He was later hooded and tortured before being made to sign a "debt of honour". He gave evidence against the gang after being arrested as an illegal immigrant.
The accused, who were all Chinese and from London, admitted various charges including grievous bodily harm, kidnap and false imprisonment.
