A TEENAGER abused police called to a pub after a pensioner suffered a serious head injury, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how Lee Bradshaw, 18, swore and called a female officer a bitch and ended up arrested.
Bradshaw, of Montague Road, Burnley, admitted disorderly behaviour on Saturday and was given a 12 months conditional discharge with £55 costs.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, told the court police had at first considered the charge faced by the defendant was related to the football match between Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday. They no longer took that view.
About 5pm, an incident occurred outside Yates Wine Lodge in which an elderly woman received a serious head injury. Police were called to the premises and were taking the names and addresses of people leaving.
Mr Robinson said the defendant was asked to leave, to give his particulars and to move away from the area. He refused, saying he was waiting for somebody. Bradshaw was told to wait further along St James Street, but became abusive.
The defendant swore and said he was not going anywhere. He said Bradshaw then called a police woman a bitch and was arrested. He was given a knee strike to the right thigh to make him comply as he struggled.
Sajjad Karim, defending, said Bradshaw, a warehouse labourer, did not accept everything that was alleged against him. He had no previous convictions, apologised to the court and accepted his behaviour fell below what was expected of him.
