VANDALS caused almost £1,000 worth of damage to a landmark sculpture in Stacksteads.
The damage was caused sometime over the Easter holidays to the Coming Full Circle, situated in Moss Meadow, off Newchurch Road.
Vandals kicked down the dry stone wall, which was designed by internationally-renowned artist Chris Drury to reflect the area's mills.
Chris has worked on sculptures all over the world, including Scandinavia, and came to Rossendale around four years ago to design the sculpture as part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail.
Michael McShea, Stacksteads councillor, said: "I believe it is going to cost in the region of £1,000 to have the sculpture repaired.
"The work was done to reflect industry in the area and was a popular landmark. We think it's children who have caused the damage.
"The walls are very heavy and hard to push over so it obviously took more than one person to cause the damage."
A police spokesman said a report of vandalism was to be investigated. He said: "The incident is being looked at by officers in Bacup."
