THE third of the Pendle Forest Orienteers Spring Series of events is on Saturday at Alkincoats Park, Colne.
It is signed off the A6068, 1km north of the town centre. With white, yellow and score courses, they are ideal for first timers, youth and school groups and those with experience wanting to develop their skills. You don't need to be a club member. Registration is from 10am with starts from 10.30am, and instruction for first timers at 10am. For more information call Tom Gray on 0161-766-5666.
ON Bank Holiday Monday Southport Waterloo are hosting a 15K multi-terrain race sponsored by McDonalds. Start and finish are at the Waterloo Rugby Club located at Blundellsands, Crosby. Race starts at 11.30am and entrants on the day should register before 10.30am. There is also a 3K Fun Run at 10.45am and a 5K Fun Run at 11.20am.
MONDAY'S Wray Caton Moor Fell Race is 7 miles long with 1100 feet of climb. It starts at 2.30pm while there are junior races which start immediately afterwards. Near Lancaster, Wray Caton is eight miles east from M6 J34.
CLAYTON Harriers' World Record Holder Monica Shone will present the prizes at the Club's Annual Presentation Evening on Tuesday. It will be held at the Pendle Inn, Barley starting at 8.30pm and there will be free pie and peas for members.
WEDNESDAY sees the first of Chorley Harriers' popular 4 mile Night Race Series once again sponsored by Leyland Trucks. Registration is at the Baron's Rest Public House, Astley Village where you can enrol for a single race or the series. There is always a queue for registration at the first race of the summer so allow plenty of time before the 7.30pm start. The other races are on the first Wednesdays in June, July and August.
THERE are three fell races in the locality on Wednesday evening. The Blackstone Edge at Littleborough is 3.5M/1200 5/8 at 7.30pm starting >from Lydgate Hamlet, Blackstone Edge Old Road. There are also junior races. The Flower Scar at Todmorden is 4M/1100 starts at 7.15pm from the Hare and Hounds on Burnley Road. This is not to be confused with the Hare and Hounds Fell Race which starts from the pub of the same name at Lotherdale near Skipton. This one is 4.5M/600 and starts at 7.30pm.
