A BURNLEY company has been fined £500 for 'persistently' ignoring requests to comply with planning regulations.
Cloverbrook was also ordered to pay £125 after failing to comply with a planning enforcement notice at their premises in Gannow Lane, Rosegrove.
According to planners at Burnley Borough Council, Cloverbrook, a textile dying and finishing company, built a warehouse in Gannow Lane. One of the conditions attached to the original planning application passed by the authority stipulated that Cloverbrook was to submit a landscaping scheme before work started.
The council added the company was also asked to carry out the landscaping work before the warehouse was first used.
When the company failed to do so, Cloverbrook was served with a notice by Burnley Borough Council.
Head of planning for Burnley Council Sue Graham, said: "Cloverbrook did eventually carry out the landscaping works but not until prosecution proceedings had already been started."
The council said the prosecution was only brought as a last resort.
Mrs Graham added: "A lot of officer time is spent chasing up those who fail to comply with planning conditions. Enforcement notices are only served as a last resort, when all efforts to negotiate have failed.
"In this case, the company persistently ignored requests to carry out the landscaping, with the result that prosecution became necessary.
"The council expects all developers to comply with planning conditions and to adhere to the terms of enforcement notices."
A spokesman for Cloverbrook refused to comment.
