AN animal charity is seeking the owner of an elderly whippet picked up in Gin Pit village.
The Leigh branch of Petsearch say the brindle dog, which has been nicknamed Scally, seems to be desperately looking for someone.
He has been fostered out to Angela and Arthur Gore in Lowton who are caring for him with their own two pets.
Arthur said: "Though he is believed to be nine or 10 years old he could walk forever. He seems to have been a man's dog. We've called him Scallywag because he is a scally and his tail never stops wagging."
For Petsearch Margaret Andrew said if his owners are not found then a new home will be needed.
If anyone can help they should contact Arthur on 01942-714015.
Astley and Tyldesley Whippet and Dog Racing Club which holds meetings at A & T Miners' Welfare Club in Meanley Road, Gin Pit village runs Wednesday sessions at 6.30pm.
