POLICE are investigating a petrol bomb attack on an Asian takeaway in Burnley early today.
The incident happened at the Tara Takeaway, Rosegrove Lane, at 2.48am.
Offenders used a Newcastle Brown bottle to make the petrol bomb and hurled it at the window of the shop.
Firefighters said the petrol bomb missed the window, causing damage to drainpipes and felt roofing.
Leading firefighter Thomas Ashworth said: "The petrol bomb was thrown at a window to the rear of the shop and smashed against the wall, with petrol dribbling down the wall.
"Fire damage was caused to the felt roof and the drainpipes. There wasn't anybody in at the time and police were trying to contact the owners today."
Police have taken the bottle away for forensic examination.
