RESIDENTS in the Brunshaw area of Burnley will be able to top up their computer skills after the local action group received a donation of £8,000.
The Nationwide Foundation, which makes donations to charitable and non-profit organisations from funds from the building society, employees, members and customers, has made the donation.
It will be used to buy computer equipment for use by people of all ages.
The Brunshaw Action Group was set up by the residents in September 2000 in conjunction with Lancashire Constabulary to cut down on juvenile nuisance and crime and to offer activities for all ages of the community and to make Brunshaw a vibrant and interesting place to live.
Michael Bailey, project manager, said: "We are very grateful to the Nationwide Foundation for this donation. It will allow us to offer computer workshops for all ages in Brunshaw.
"Everyone worked really hard to get this money which will help us build up our IT facilities and give everyone in the community an opportunity to get involved in IT."
He said the action group also got help to pay for the computers from Lancashire County Council's Burnley Youth and District Services who paid for the VAT.
