BREADMAKERS Warburtons have joined forces with Burnley Police to help kick start their 2003 community football competition.
The company, based on Billington Road Industrial Estate, has agreed to sponsor the Burnley Police Community Cup Competition for a second year.
The Cup Competition will take place on Sunday, June 1 on the Astroturf at Towneley Park from 10am - 5pm.
The 7-a-side competition is open to all sectors of the local community in Burnley and Padiham and has three age groups: under 14s, 14-17s and over 17s.
Teams must pay £20 to take part with proceeds from the event being donated to the Mayor of Burnley's charity appeal.
All entrants will receive a certificate and there will be cups and medals for the winners of each category which are being funded, along with other items, from the £400 provided by Warburtons.
Competition organiser PC Andy Thornhill who is Community Beat Manager for Burnley Wood, said: "The competition will give youngsters from all sectors of the local community a chance to have some fun and showcase their footballing skills.
"Last year, more than 200 young people came to either to play or cheer their friends on and everyone had a fantastic time.
"The 2003 competition looks set to be even bigger and better."
Further details and entry forms are available from PC Andy Thornhill who can be contacted on 472961 or Lindsey Henry on 01282 472224.
Alternatively, entry forms can be picked up from the front desks of the police stations in Padiham and Burnley.
