PLANS to create an enclosed play area at the St Philips Centre in Nelson look likely to be given the go-ahead on Monday.
Councillors have been recommended to approve the application by planning officers.
It would include installing play equipment on the land surrounding the church for use as a play area connected to the St Philip's Family Centre, which provides subsidised child care in part of the church.
The equipment would be put at three sides of the church at St Philips Street, Wickliffe Street and the rear of Chapel Street.
Use of the area would be restricted to the family centre and no more than 30 children would be allowed to play there at one time. Opening hours would be 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
