A CHARTERED surveyor from Clitheroe is taking to his bike to raise cash for the treatment of breast cancer.

Bill Honeywell will cycle 950 miles from Land's End to John o'Groats over two weeks in aid of Christie Hospital, Manchester.

He sets off on May 10 and aims to cycle 75 miles a day, with wife Valerie driving a motorhome for back-up.

The 50-year-old estate agent, who runs Honeywell's in Castle Street, is no stranger to pedal power for charity.

In August, 2001, he raised £1,800 for Christie Hospital by cycling coast-to-coast from Liverpool to Goole in a sponsored bike ride.

He said: "I've been training for some time and hopefully will be fit enough to complete the ride in one piece.

"I'm really looking forward to it, not just the ride, but raising as much money as possible for breast cancer research and treatment.

"If I could double what I raised on the last ride, it would be fantastic, but whatever the result all donations will be gratefully accepted."

Bill thanked cycle shop Pedal Power of Waddington Road, Clitheroe, for supporting his endeavour by providing cycle spares and services.
