HEAVYWEIGHT Georgina the dog is now a slimline version of her former curry-eating self two months after embarking on a strict diet.
Georgina, a nine-year-old bull mastiff, squeezed through the doors of Abbeydale Vets, Preston New Road, Blackburn, in February after owners Tracy and Sean Brown became concerned about her weight.
Georgina's habit of gorging on curries, chocolates and dozens of cakes meant she weighed a colossal and unhealthy 10st 5lbs.
But after a diet of food recommended by veterinary nurse Fritha Morgan, who set up a pet fat camp, Georgina has lost almost a stone in weight, weighing just 9st 7lbs.
And owner Tracy said that Georgina is now much happier and is able to move about more.
Georgina's case highlighted the growing problem of pet obesity in East Lancashire.
Other vet practices across the region have also set up their own clubs to combat animal fatness with some having 15 pets attending their animal clinic.
Tracy, 33, of Huntington Drive, Darwen, said: "She's not looking like a barrel anymore and has got her dog figure back, she's looking like a right lady.
"She can move her legs more and when she gets excited she jumps which she didn't use to be able to do. She is almost back to her ideal weight."
Georgina is a special guest on digital TV channel CBBC on Wednesday May 7, when she is to get a curried surprise. The live programme, called XChange, starts at 4.30pm.
