A PADIHAM headteacher is planning a spectacular stunt to help a vicar save the bells of his church.
Julia Bradley has volunteered to abseil down the tower at St Leonard's in Church Street to help raise £40,000 to refurbish the church bells. The daredevil teacher, 41, of St Leonard's C of E Primary School will perform the stunt at a summer fair at the church on June 21.
The fair is just one of a series of events planned to help raise the grand total. She will be joined by the vicar, the Rev Mark Jones, a trained bell-ringer, who decided that the bell tower at St Leonard's was in urgent need of repairs last year.
