A LONG-STANDING member of Worsthorne's Parochial Church Council has decided not to stand for re-election.
Selby Chalk, who lives in the village, has served continuously for 35 years, 20 of which as churchwarden. Members of the council have expressed their sadness at the news but extend their thanks to Selby for his service.
WORSTHORNE Scouts will not be attending Bowleree this year after the event was cancelled due to lack of entries.
In previous years Bowlereee has attracted Scouts from across the world to the Great Harwood Scout Camp.

CHRISTIAN Aid will be collecting in the village from next week. Volunteer collectors are needed and anyone who can spare some time should contact Barbara on 01282 427964. This year, Christian Aid Week is focussing on ordinary people who are changing the lives of people around them.
THE Parish Council meet next Tuesday from 7pm, when a good turn-out of residents is expected to hear what Burnley's expert on the Local Plan Michael Wellock, has to say.
Residents are concerned about developers wanting to build on the green area between Pike Hill and Worsthorne and a petition to Keep Worsthorne rural is currently circulating the village. Villagers will be entertained by Worsthorne Ringers.
RESIDENTS living around Ravenoak Lane and Wallhurst Close are campaigning for signs indicating a 20mph speed limit in a bid to halt young people on scooters who are racing up and down the area.
Worsthorne 'beat bobby' PC Glynn Grey said he will investigate the claims, after Councillor Mavis Hitchen reported that 22 children play in the area of Ravenoak and Wallhurst.
