Horror movies and Bollywood don't necessarily go well together.
Maybe the thrills just don't compare with the the countless sci-fi / horror movies hitting our screens from the states. Once you have seen it with all the extra's, anything else is just tacky.
So Ram Gopal Verma has done the intelligent thing and decided to concentrate on the unseen without going crazy with the effects.
An all-star line-up, headed by Urmila and Ajya Devgan feature in this urban horror flic. The story line is pretty simple and revolves around a married couple moving into a beautiful apartment. Whilst neither believes in the undead strange goings-on soon make them think otherwise. Especially Urmila who becomes convinced something sinister and ugly resides within the apartment.
Familiarly the truth about the building soon becomes apparant. The pervious tenant had died after jumping off the balcony of the 12th floor apratment. Ajay Devgan plays it cool as always and refuses to believe in ghosts, leaving the hapless Urmila to fend for herself to maintain her sanity.
This storyline has been used over and over again in many different guises over the years but hardly ever in Bollywood and surprisingly they manage to pull it off. The film far too slow at times though but maybe that just adds to the suspense.
With a great supporting line-up, Fardeen Khan, Rekha and Nana Patekar this film is reported to be the most expensive supernatural thriller ever made in India.
