BURNLEY are set for a summer showdown with Premiership giants Leeds United at Turf Moor.
The pre-season friendly follows hot on the heels of the Clarets' exploits in the Isle of Man tournament at the end of July.
And the game is believed to have been set up through manager Stan Ternent's friendship with Leeds' temporary manager Peter Reid.
But, should Reid not be given permanent charge of the Elland Road outfit, the match will still go ahead on Sunday July 27, kick-offing off at noon.
Burnley chairman Barry Kilby said: "I think the manager has used his contacts well there and we're all looking forward to such a big game.
"We like to bring Premier opposition to Turf Moor and we're hoping to be able to play another Premiership side in the summer.
"Leeds are still a very big club and it's a long time since they've been to Turf Moor so we're hoping they will bring a good following and it will be a nice pay day for the club.
"We don't know yet whether their star players will be involved but I would think at that stage of the season they will bring a pretty strong squad."
A Leeds spokesman said: "We are looking forward to playing the game at Turf Moor. It will be useful for us to get the players back in shape at such an early stage.
"We haven't played at Burnley in a long time now and I'm sure the fans will enjoy the day as well."
Leeds will be hoping to hang on to star strikers Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka once the Premiership season ends this weekend.
And Kilby is hoping Kewell and Viduka, as well as the likes of England internationals Alan Smith and Paul Robinson will be on show at Turf Moor.
He added: "It will be a good test for our new team.
"We will have a lot of new faces at the club by then."
"Things have started to hot up behind the scenes already but I think it will be into June before we make any announcements on that front."
Meanwhile, Burnley are set to receive at least one bonus after Reading secured a play-off spot.
And they will get more financial benefits should Glen Little, who was loaned to the Royals until the end of the season on transfer deadline day, help them earn a place in the Premiership.
The amount of money the Clarets will receive has not been disclosed by the club, but it is believed to be a significant sum..
Kilby said: "Glen is still our player, he is only on loan, but it's a chance for him to test himself. And I'm sure we will be cheering Reading on in the play-offs."
