POLICE are urging more people to come forward with information after receiving around only 400 to 500 calls from the public during their search into the disappearance of former Burnley boy Daniel Entwistle.

Officers leading the investigation are becoming increasingly frustrated after coming up with no new leads five days after seven-year-old Daniel went missing from his home in Great Yarmouth.

Daniel was born in Burnley but grew up with mum and dad David, 41, and Paula, 30, in Peel Street, Padiham, before moving away with his family three years ago.

Police yesterday began using sonar equipment to search the water near where a bicycle believed to belong to the youngster was found abandoned by a harbour wall on the River Yare.

They have also appealed for help, particularly from anglers who may have been near the quayside where the bike was discovered. Detective Superintendent Julian Gregory said last night: "We certainly have no plans to scale down our resources.

"We will start to think about that when we have exhausted everything we can do. The longer that he is away, the more we are worried. But there is still hope."

Daniel's parents have considered every eventuality but there is still optimism he can be found.

Mr Gregory said: "They have been very helpful and have been in quite extensive talks with some officers who have been going through his life with a fine-tooth comb to see if there's anything we can glean from that."

Pupils at Daniel's school yesterday drew emotional pictures and wrote messages pleading for their friend to return.

A candle has been lit as a symbol of hope in the main hall of Greenacre First. Middle and Nursery School close to the boy's home in Norfolk.

One message there reads: "We miss you Daniel. We want Daniel to be home safe with your family.

"I do miss Daniel. We don't know where you are. We wish we can find Daniel."

Another read: "To Daniel. Please come back. We miss you a lot. We are all looking for you. From Jordan."

Detectives have released a short wedding video showing Daniel at the register office wedding ceremony of his parents last November in Great Yarmouth, in the hope it will jog someone's memory.
