DESPITE Golborne U15s dominating the game for the most part, a scrambled two runs from the last ball of the game forced an unlikely draw in the opening match of the season.
Astley and Tyldesley won the toss and elected to bat, but lost wickets steadily to finish on 63 for 8.
Golborne turned in an excellent bowling and fielding display with James Whittaker taking 1 for 7, Craig Scott 2 for 10 and Man of the Match captain James Carr 4 for 10 (including a double-double). The bowlers were back up by some outstanding fielding in particular Paul Farrar, who took two brilliant catches.
Golborne started their reply brightly and were soon well in front of the asking rate. However, when Tom Hart was dismissed for 22 and then James Carr was run out for 11 the scoring slowed dramatically and it was left to Craig Scott and James Whittaker to make sure Golborne forced a tie, finishing on 63 for 3 in a game they really deserved to win.
