CHURCHES Together In Atherton present the musical Wildfire on May 15 and 16 at the Formby Hall.
The story of Stephen, by Roger Jones and Alison Fuggle, follows on from last year's successful production of another Roger Jones musical Pharoah To Freedom which followed Hopes and Dreams.
The story follows the birth of the early church as is recorded in The Acts of the Apostles, particularly chapters six and seven. Stephen is chosen by the disciples to look after the well being of the early converts but he comes into conflict with Jewish authorities and goes to trial.
During his defence Stephen, in the same way as Jesus on the cross, prays for the forgiveness of his murderers.
Performances start at 7.30pm next Thursday and Friday. Tickets cost £3.50 for adults, accompanied children free,
from 01942 883991/886882.
