PRESTON Broncos had a complete new look to their team in their opening match of the season against Runcorn Jets - with six girls in the team!
Only one of the players has ever played baseball prior to this match, so it was a very inexperienced team that took to the field at Runcorn.
But enthusiasm went a long way and Preston were leading 3-2 at the end of the second innings.
Runcorn came back with three runs in each of the following innings to lead 11-3, Preston fought back with three more runs in the final innings, the final score was 11-6 to Runcorn.
Ironically Runcorn were a player down and borrowed Preston new boy Philip Parkinson who scored a ground home run. Kris Harrison, also in his first season, scored four runs and made a brilliant catch at short stop.
They will hope to learn from their mistakes and make steady progress throughout the season.
