A JUDGE has discharged a jury in the case of a father and daughter accused of wounding a teenager with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
Judge Raymond Bennett made the move at Burnley Crown Court after the panel had been unable to reach verdicts.
They had already found John Hankinson, 50, of Arncliff Avenue, Accrington, and his daughter Danyella 20, of the same address guilty of affray. The defendants denied all the allegations.
The alleged victim had told the court how he had been chatting to Danyella Hankinson, the conversation had seemed friendly and then his face was grabbed and pushed back.
The 17 year old said he then woke up in the middle of the street with lots of people round him and burst into tears.
The complainant, who said he was trying to explain who he was, was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary, where he underwent surgery for a double fracture to the jaw and had plates put in his face.
