WE have been breeding pedigree sheep in the Lowton areas for some 20 years.
Last Friday two of our young sheep, with whom we spent hours of sleepless nights doing lambing, feeding twice daily, were viciously attacked by a dog.
If not for the brave actions of a lady walking her dog that morning the outcome would have been even more tragic. She entered the field and chased off the dog which was ripping into the backlegs of one of the animals. The other sheep had already been savagely mutilated and was left in a "bloody" heap under the hedges.
Outcome -- a very large vet's bill and we are unable to continue our hobby and turn the sheep out to pasture. Any information regarding the whereabouts of a small vicious black and white "Jack Russell" type dog left to roam please contact in strictest confidence the Police Wildlife Officer at Leigh Police Station.
