LIBRARIES across Bury will be taking part in this year's Local History Month which runs right through May.
Following on from the success of last year's programme across the country, the Historical Association is bringing together a range of local and national organisations to celebrate local history.
Today, at Ramsbottom Library, staff will be on hand up to 7.30pm to help anyone wanting to try and trace their family tree in the Ramsbottom area.

Saturday 17 May -- Radcliffe Library -- Find your Home -- 10.30am-3pm. If you live in the Radcliffe or Whitefield area then this is the event for you. Old maps, census records and photographs, are some of the items which will be available for you to find out about the history of your house. If your house is over 100 years old, you may be able to find out who lived there. Members of the local Family History Society will also be on hand to help. Prestwich and Unsworth Libraries have organised displays of Local History photographs and pamphlets
Whitefield Library has a display of local photographs incorporating a quiz about guessing the date of the pictures concerned. Also for sale, at the discounted price of £5, is a local book "Whitefield in old Picture Postcards" by local author, Harry Wilkinson.
