BACK by popular demand, a second slipper exchange is coming to Darwen on Monday.
The event will give elderly people the chance to swap their sloppy slippers for a new pair for free.
Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust is hoping for another successful turnout for the event, at Darwen Health Centre from 9am to 11.30am.
More than 40 sloppy slippers were swapped at the PCTs February event.
The slipper exchange is part of the PCT and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council's Safety Net falls initiative for older people.
The aim to stop injuries caused by falls. Accidental falls are a major cause of disability and mortality and ill-fitting footwear is known to be a common cause of falls in older people.
Around 3,000 accidents happen in the home each day across the country. Around 1,000 involve falls downstairs and nine per cent are reported to be as a result of badly fitting slippers.
