A NEWLY-FORMED Darwen theatre company has won an award for its first performance.
Pepperpot Hill amateur theatre group was formed last year to perform Calamity Jane over three nights at the Darwen Library Theatre in February and March.
Producer Anne Ingham, 47, initially created the group from family members and friends.
The group was invited to an awards ceremony at the De Vere Hotel in Blackpool where it was nominated for five Northern Operatic and Dramatic Awards (NODA).
The company was delighted to pick up an award for best director - Angela Lucas.
Anne said: "It was fantastic to be invited to the awards in the first place because it was only our first performance and we had no idea how it was going to go.
"It was a great experience and we're all delighted for Angela."
The group, which now boasts 26 members, will be performing Anything Goes next February and is looking for volunteers to get involved.
