DAREDEVIL charity fundraisers are gearing up for a sponsored abseil from one of Rossendale's best known landmarks.
The Children's Hospital Appeal Trust is organising the event at Peel Monument, Holcombe Hill, for the second time after raising more than £3,000 last year.
The Trust supports children's healthcare in the North West and has, to date, raised over £5million.
This year's abseil will take place on Sunday, May 18.
Last year 40 eager but nervous participants entered the event and the Trust are hoping to better the total this time and make the abseil an annual event.
Abseils will take place every ten minutes from 10am until 5pm. On registration time slots are allocated on a first come first served basis.
The cost is £20 this is non refundable and you need to raise a further £80 minimun sponsorship to take part.
All abseilers must be 14 years of age or over (if under 18 you will need a parent/guardian with you) and must be fit enough to climb the150 steps to the top of the tower.
The Trust has recently purchased a baby ventilator for Burnley General Hospital. For more informaton call 0161 276 8700 or e-mail chat@charity.vfree.com
